ANSYS Discovery Live provides instantaneous 3D simulation, tightly coupled with direct geometry modeling, to enable interactive design exploration and rapid product innovation. It is an interactive experience in which you can manipulate geometry, material types or physics inputs, then instantaneously see changes in performance.
Use Discovery Live to test more design iterations in a shorter amount of time, perform feasibility studies on new concepts and bring products to market faster. ANSYS Discovery Live seamlessly aligns with the 3D Design family of products and complements ANSYS Discovery SpaceClaim and ANSYS Discovery AIM. Also known as parameter sweeps, these design point studies create a Pareto frontier of data in Discovery Live that lets you explore a large number of design possibilities by varying multiple geometric or simulation parameters in an automated fashion. In the example video, temperature reduction in a heat sink increases with a greater amount of material, but material reduction may be another design goal. Although these two design goals may be at odds with each other, a parameter study in Discovery Live can quickly and interactively help determine optimized values so you can select the best design for your needs. By observing the data that forms a Pareto frontier, and by varying additional variables, you can best determine which variables have the greatest impact on design goals. Setting up a study is simple. You can choose several geometry or physics input parameters to evaluate simultaneously. Because the geometry creation and resulting simulation are automated, this capability rapidly lets you try new ideas, obtain results and better understand trends and trade-offs between design goals. Since Discovery Live is interactive, we've developed this capability to let you interactively explore generated results through charts. Instead of plotting input parameters, measurement values are shown by default and the data points form a resulting Pareto frontier. Hovering over any point shows the input parameters used to generate that value, and selecting the point instantly updates the 3D model and the resulting simulation. Simulation is crucial for early/upfront analysis. The increased ability to interactively explore generated results using the power of automation ultimately lets you weigh trade-offs in performance and select the best design for your needs. This is true upfront simulation that provides useful design direction and a better understanding of design choices.
